PEER PROFILE COVER LETTER

For this peer profile I got to interview my classmate Mishad, he is a freshman in City College who was born in Bangladesh and moved to New York at the young age of ten. While doing this interview I got to learn a lot about my classmate, personal things about him, basic details of him, what his journey was like learning a new language, and the effects it had on him as he kept growing up. It was an assignment that not many professors assign since it’s usually about an article or researching a topic. I’m glad this wasn’t the case for this class because this allows students to learn about one another in a certain aspect and for this case it was about our language journey which ties into our family, childhood, insecurities, etc. While conducting this interview it was very easy to ask the questions and get the answers but a challenge during this process was coming up with questions that weren’t so repetitive or close ended, I wanted an interview where I could get as much background information about his journey and it can get a little difficult to come up with questions that are going to get you the answers you need. Learning a new language in a country where you’re familiar with nothing and have to adapt to not only a new language but new traditions, culture, way of living, etc. can be very difficult on a kid especially at the young age of ten years old. Mishad goes into detail about his experience and he touches on a specific event where he had a realization that helped him keep learning and improving his English.
